We begin this life in the womb, full darkness, alone, to end also alone in that dark tiny room underground. During this period, between the start and the end, a lot of people pass by or through us. Some stuck to us from birth because they have to. But some, has the choice to be or not to be in our journey.
The family consists of those who did not choose to have us as their closest circle’s members, so they became our parents, siblings and relatives. Whatever we live in our life, they will be there for us for at least once, and we will always feel belongingness with them. On the other hand, we have people who either we select and let them in or they enter into ourselves without permission, and both leaves a mark, or a wound.
I would like to talk about the injuries because we are all familiar with them and they are the easiest to recognize and remember. There are times when we think about how toxic the relationship is (could be a friendship or any kind else) and we decide that we are done with it. NO more of being an alternative or a backup plan. We apologies to our wounded souls. As a result, we shut the door in the faces of those who try to get closer to us but because of our bad experiences, we push them away. Although there are a lot of beautiful souls out there, we prefer to close ourselves up into our world believing that this will protect us. Until that one day comes when we think of giving it a second chance and we open a door to let someone in. It starts nice and we like it, both of us begin to get used to the other. But it turns out that they were only guests and we realize that we opened a window, not a door, which made them thieves, they got a piece of us before running out again, leaving behind them an open way for a storm which breaks the sensitive glass that was saving our hearts and harms us.
It is an ongoing ring, it works like a time bomb that explodes and after it, an ambulance tries to contain the damages. We do not know that we need to fill our hearts with Almighty’s love and to sacrifice every single materialistic property for the seek of Him to deserve His mercy of showing us the Way. In His way, we will meet with the pure souls that will be the candles enlightening our lives. They will be bandages whenever we get burnt. Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Aleyhi ve Sellem) said: “A man is upon the religion of his friend, so let one of you look at whom he befriends.”1 Our leader has already advised us to find a healthy way of living. But we, humans, preferred to fly in the face of our instinctual religion which was sent to safeguard our souls from disappointments.
